Malware is one of the major virus threats that makes your device vulnerable to attacks. You can quickly remove this virus threat using a standard antivirus software. In case you wish not to install any antivirus software on your computer, keep reading the steps given below to remove malware without antivirus.
Method 1: Use System File Checker
System File Checker is a Microsoft utility that allows you to scan and restore corrupted files on your computer.
In case your Windows computer is affected by malware, run the System File Checker utility using Command Prompt as the first troubleshooting step.
To begin with, click the Start menu and type ‘cmd’ in the search panel.
From the search results, right-click the Command Prompt app and select the Run as administrator option.
Click Yes if the device prompts for User Account Control.
Type ‘sfc /scannow’ in the Command Prompt window and press Enter.
Wait until the scan is complete. This may take a few minutes to scan and remove all the corrupted files on your computer.
Method 2: Use Command Prompt to remove malware without any antivirus
First, open the Command Prompt app with administrator rights.
Type ‘D:’ and press the Enter key (replace the drive letter D with your infected partition).
Enter ‘attrib -s -h -r /s /d *.*’ in the Command Prompt window and hit the Enter key.
Type ‘dir’ and press the Enter key. Doing so will load all the hidden files, directories, and subfolders.
Alternatively, you can add all three commands together as ‘dir D: attrib -s -h /s /d *.*’ and hit the Enter key to load all your files on the drive.
Identify the suspicious/unusual files like autorun.inf or files with .exe as the extension.
Next, type ‘del filename’ (replace filename with the suspicious file name) and hit the Enter key to remove malware without any antivirus software.
Method 3: Use Windows Task Manager
Open the Windows Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del shortcut keys.
Head to the Processes tab and choose the unfamiliar programs from the displayed list.
Click the End Task button after selecting each suspicious task.
To disable the malware-infected files from Windows Startup, go to the Startup tab and select all the programs that have unknown in the manufacturer column.
Finally, click the Disable button to avoid running virus-infected files during the startup.
If necessary, you can also enable the built-in firewall --- Windows Defender --- to remove malware without antivirus apps.
