In some situations, while using ESET services, users encounter some common errors that contain the letters ACT or ECP followed by a number. One such ECP error is the ESET error code ECP 4097. At times, this error pops up when you try to activate any ESET Internet Security service on your computer.

Troubleshooting Method 1-Correcting your system date and time:

  • On your Windows computer, you will find the time and date section at the right end of your taskbar. When you right-click this section, a list of options will be displayed.
  • From the options, select Adjust date/time.
  • In the Date & Time Settings window, if the Set time automatically option is enabled, disable it by turning off the toggle button.
  • Now, set the correct time zone from the Time zone drop-down menu.
  • If you want to synchronize the data and time with the online server, click the Sync now button.
  • Below the Change date and time option, you can see the Change button. Make the required modifications to the date and time and then click on the Change button.

Troubleshooting Method 2-Repairing your system’s socket errors:

  • In the Search box of your Windows computer, type cmd. From the displayed options, right-click on Command Prompt and select the Run as administrator option.
  • The Command Prompt window will now pop up. In the window, type netsh winsock reset and then press the Enter key.
  • The socket errors on your computer usually occur when you install unknown programs. Many of these unknown programs or files will contain malware.
  • The netsh winsock reset command will reset your system configuration and will also recover it from any malware that have crept inside (through the unknown program).
