ESET is an antivirus software that acts as real-time protection for your device. The error code ACT.24 is an activation error code that indicates your ESET product is having trouble connecting to the ESET IP server. The first thing you need to do to fix this error is to check whether your network has any rules that allow access to ESET IP servers. If there are no rules set, you need to create one. If the Eset Error Code Act 24 problem persists even when the rule has been set, proceed with the troubleshooting steps given below.
Solution 1: Reset your Winsock settings
On your Windows computer, click the Start menu available at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Type ‘cmd’ in the search panel and hit the Enter key.
From the search result, right-click the Command Prompt app and select the Run as administrator option.
In the Command Prompt window, type ‘netsh Winsock reset’ and press the Enter key. Doing so will reset the Winsock settings. It contains your computer’s configuration for Internet connectivity.
Next, restart your computer and try to activate your ESET product again.
Make sure that your system time is set correctly.
If the problem persists, move on to the next solution.
Solution 2: Delete the DNS poisoned entries
On your Windows computer, launch the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows + R shortcut keys.
Type ‘C:\Windows|System32\drivers\etc’ in the Run dialog box and click the OK button or press the Enter key.
Verify whether the host files contain any DNS poisoned entries related to the edf.eset.com domain in the pop-up window.
If you detect any DNS poisoned entries, remove them from the hosts file using a text editor (Notepad/Word).
If the User Account Control window pops-up, click the Yes button to make changes to your computer.
Once you have removed the DNS poisoned entries, try to activate your ESET product again and check if the problem has been resolved.
