Antivirus installation error

This error can happen during the installation of the antivirus. Sometimes, the virus or malware on your computer could be blocking the installation. To solve this issue, you need to create a rescue disk on another PC and make use of it to remove or delete the malware. Antivirus software not installing

  • First, check whether you have installed any other antivirus on your computer.
  • Check if the antivirus is compatible with the operating system of your computer.
  • Try to perform a clean boot. Press the Windows + R keys together to open the Run dialog box.
  • In the Run command, type msconfig and then hit Enter.
  • The System Configuration window opens. Go to the Services window and then select the Hide all Microsoft services option.
  • Next, click the Disable all button.
  • Go to the Startup tab and then click the Open Task Manager option.
  • A list of application startups will be displayed.
  • Now, right-click the top item of the list and then select the Disable option.
  • Exit the Task Manager window and then return to the System Configuration window.
  • Click the Apply button and then click the OK button to save the modifications.
  • Once done with the process, restart the PC and then check whether the problem is solved.
  • Make sure to clean the PC with CC cleaner. Delete all the infected or the problematic applications that have been installed on your computer.

Managed antivirus installation failed

  • First, turn off the Managed Antivirus feature for the device.
  • For that, you need to right-click the name of the device within the dashboard.
  • Choose Edit Device. Next, choose Managed Antivirus and then turn off Settings. You can see the Managed antivirus-not installed alert on the Confirmation Summary tab.
  • Now, go to the C: Program Files ( X86 for 64 bit)\Advanced Monitoring Agent (GP if installed via GPO)\ featuresres directory.
  • Erase the feature MSI files that have not been installed.

  • Now, launch the settings .ini file that is located in C:\Program Files (x86 if 64 bit)\ Advanced Monitoring Agent(GP if installed via GPO)
  • Search for the sections below.
  • [MANAGEDAV]
  • ACTIVATED=1
  • INSTALL_ERROR_COUNT=3
  • Modify the name INSTALL_ERROR_COUNT to 0 and then save the file.
  • Finally, restart the Advanced Monitoring service and then turn on the Managed Antivirus feature.

Solution 1 - checking compatibility of the system to install an antivirus program

  • If the installing antivirus is not compatible with the Operating System, the antivirus might not install on your computer.
  • Visit the manufacturer site of the antivirus program and then check the compatibility of it to avoid the installation problem.
  • For example, any less famous antivirus does not support Windows 10.

Solution 2 - use rescue disk

  • Type the command line ‘sfc/scannow’ without single quotes in the Command Prompt window and tap the Enter button to run the command.
  • Wait for 15 minutes to finish the SFC scanning process. Make sure not to interrupt during the scanning process.
  • To perform the DISM scan on the Windows 20 computer, enter the command line ‘DISM/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth’ in the Command Prompt window.
  • The scanning time taken to perform the DISM scan is 20 minutes. Wait patiently until it gets over and then check whether the error is resolved by installing an antivirus on the Windows 10 computer.

Solution 4 - uninstalling third-party software

  • The presence of certain third-party software on the Windows 10 computer may lead to an antivirus installation error.
  • Also, keep in mind that two antivirus programs cannot function together normally.
  • So, you are recommended to uninstall or remove the already existing antivirus program from the computer before installing a new antivirus.

  • Navigate to the Services tab, checkmark the box beside the ‘Hide all Microsoft services option, and click the Disable button followed by the OK button.
  • Move to the Startup tab and then select the Open Task Manager link.
  • You will see the Startup Application list when the Task Manager window opens.
  • Right-click the startup application and then select the Disable option.
  • Repeat the previous step to disable all the startup applications.
  • After closing the Task Manager window, click the Apply button followed by the OK button in the System Configuration window.

Solution 7 - disabling the fast startup feature

  • Press the Win and S keys simultaneously.
  • Type ‘power settings’ in the search bar and then select the Power & sleep settings option from the search result.
  • In the next window, select the Change settings that are currently unavailable link.
  • Click the Additional Power Settings link.
  • Click the ‘Choose What the power button does’ option and then click the ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’ option.
  • Remove the checkmark next to the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option and then click Save Changes.

Should I uninstall antivirus before installing another?
